Existing home sales continue to rise nationally thanks to first-time homebuyers, according to recent information released by the National Association of Realtors.

Sales jumped 9.4 percent from 5.1 million units in August to 5.57 million units in September. This is the highest level of sales activity in over two years, according to the NAR. A couple of factors seem to be influencing these numbers. Both cheaper homes and the first-time homebuyer credit are incentivising sales, according to NAR chief economist Lawrence Yun.
