Travelocity reported Maui's Fairmont Kea Lani as one of its top nine hotels for a romantic getaway. This is pretty exciting news for Maui, as it is yet another little bit of evidence to lend testimony to how great our island is. Maui has its excellent reputation for a reason. The consistency of the praise that it receives from various sources should definitely tell you something!

According to Travelocity, the Kea Lani is an "elegant, sunset-facing resort with gorgeous pools, romantic restaurants (try candlelit dining under the stars), and a beach where you just might see a sea turtle while you swim." They also praise the hotel for the private pools offered by its villas.

On February 20th, the Maui Whale Festival will be celebrated at Kihei's Kalama Park. The event includes plenty of fun activities in honor of the island's largest and most consistent visitors, the humpback whales. This traditional festival has roots that can be traced back to 1980 and considering how many visitors are drawn to Maui to view these behemoth mammals, it seems they deserve their own celebration.

The grand opening of Maui's first Whole Foods store is scheduled for February 24th. Located in the Maui Mall, the grocery chain is hiring as it prepares to open for business.

They expect to hire about 140 new workers for the store, which is about 26,366 square-feet. You can find job applications online at wholefoodsmarket.com. For Maui, that's a nice chunk of jobs, and at a welcome time.
